New manager at Parndon Wood Crematorium

Joe Jaggers has risen through the ranks of Westerleigh Group from being an apprentice groundsman to being named as the new manager of Parndon Wood Cemetery & Crematorium.

Westerleigh Group is one of the UK’s largest owner-operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, tranquil places for people to visit and reflect.

Joe’s career with the group started at Forest Park Cemetery & Crematorium in 2015, where he worked his way up from apprentice groundsman to become crematorium assistant, which saw him taking on shared responsibility for the running of the crematorium and assisting during services, as well as to help mentor colleagues and support them to gain their FBCA cremation certificates.

He left the company for two years but returned in April 2020, where he became assistant manager at Forest Park before now being appointed as the new manager of Parndon Wood Cemetery & Crematorium.

He said: “It has been quite a journey to get to this position and I was so pleased to be appointed.

“I love how the days vary in this industry. I enjoy working to help people, be that the families we support or the Funeral Directors.

“I think that once people get into this industry, very few of them ever want to leave.”

He said his aim is to try to ensure Parndon Wood Cemetery & Crematorium is the first choice for local people who have suffered a loss.

“We work our hardest to help families and friends give their loved ones the service that they deserve, to provide exceptional care and help create uniquely personal funerals.

“We ensure we keep our grounds in great condition, for people to come and visit their loved ones and also spend time in for quiet reflection and remembrance.”

He said he is also looking forward to supporting local charities and worthy organisations and, of course, getting to build relationships with local families.

He added: “I look forward to getting to know the families whose loved ones are resting in our grounds and supporting newly bereaved too.”

“As a team, we will give your loved one the best possible send-off, and also the nicest resting place within our lovely grounds.”
